Eligibility
Are international students eligible?
Yes, international students are eligible as long as they are eligible to and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Are there exemptions from submitting the FAFSA application?
No, there are no exemptions. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements of FAFSA then you are not eligible for The Columbian Women scholarship.
Are students enrolled in certificate programs and other non-degree granting programs eligible?
No, the objective of The Columbian Women Scholarship is to assist women pursuing a degree program.
Are Corcoran School of Arts and Design students eligible?
Yes, as The George Washington University integrated the Corcoran School into the University, Corcoran students are eligible.
My tuition is already fully funded by other awards. Am I eligible to request funds for other expenses?
No. The Columbian Women scholarships are for GWU tuition costs only. No exceptions.
Application Process
When is the deadline?
The deadline changes from year to year, but is generally in the spring.
I missed the deadline. Are additional scholarship awards provided beyond the annual deadline?
No. There is one annual scholarship process per year.
Are there exemptions from meeting the stated deadline?
No, all applications and recommendation letters must be received by 11:59 p.m. on the stated deadline.
How many applications do you receive per year?
Columbian Women receives approximately 120-130 applications per year.
How many scholarship awards are made each year?
The Columbian Women generally award between 10 and 15 scholarships annually.
I received a Columbian Women scholarship in the past. Am I eligible to apply again?
Yes.
I applied and was not awarded a Columbian Women scholarship. Am I eligible to apply again next year?
Yes.
